With a focus on improving the quality of instruction in large classrooms, Dr. Locke introduced a flipped classroom design (blended learning using video lectures with homework performed in class with professors and students discussion and solving questions) based upon current research in the area of neuroscience, learning styles and retention. The ‘flipped classroom’ enhances social connections between faculty and students and makes the classroom more accessible for students. Based upon the success of the initial project, similar efforts have been launched to revise the entire undergraduate chemistry program.
